My new love for purses

I was getting anxious about not being able to find a new purse for the summer until I got one of these great laminated totes; then my problem turned to what pattern & which style. All of them are adorable but I settled on this one with the circles and then bought two more for gifts.

I've metnioned my friends store before, Classic Trends in Arlington; they still have a couple of these totes in stock if you want one. She also just started carrying Switch Flops which I'm excited about getting. Such a cute concept..one flop with different ribbon choices to change out for a whole different look. I can't wait to get some! Amanda has lots of cute things in her store; check out her Facebook page for some of the cute things they sell.

Mothers Day

I'm curious; so I've added a poll on my sidebar: please vote to cure my curiosity! Will you celebrate May 10th as "Mothers" Day or "just your Mothers" day? Confused? I want to know if you honor & buy gifts for other moms in your family like daughters, daughter-n-laws, sisters, etc or do you just honor & buy a gift for your mom?

Honestly, until several years ago I never even thought about buying for my sister/sister-n-laws for mothers day until my mother-n-law started handing out gifts to all of them and it hit me; duh..they are moms too. So since then I try to give each of them a little something. Obviosuly, it's not going to be as big a gift as I give to my mothers but there are so many cute inexpensive gifts that you can give just to honor another mom.

Here are 10 ideas for $10 and under of cute paper gifts for those "family" moms; all from my favorite shopping place: Etsy!

Baking "pans"

To go along with my previous post about using cones for cupcakes; I decided to look around and see what other unique things people are using for baking.

yummy banana bread in a flower pot. I've always seen these but have never tried it. With some added ribbon; could make a really cute gift!

coffee cans I have a coffee can I use to keep change in but I don't think I'll use that one for baking. Might not taste too good.

I love these cupcake teacups! Their adorable! I might have to use this idea for my next tea party!

This recipe sounds like a chicken pot mug! Fun idea for kids too.

Interesting baking pan
This pan comes with diagrams on making letters, numbers & shapes by rearranging the blocks.

And apparently like cookie cutters, they have a cake pan for just about everything you could think of....I could have used this pan the last time I made a "comma" cake!

Cupcakes...a cake I can make!

I've always envied those who could make really pretty cakes. When I first got married and still worked in an office job; my dream was to quit and start making cakes instead. I read every book & magazine on the how to's, ideas, etc but when it came to actually making the cake; I bombed..big time!! It didn't take too many tries for me to realize baking cakes was not my thing. I was really bummed because I thought it would be so easy & fun but for me it was neither.

Instead I thought I might jump on the cupcake trend; surely I can do these. How hard can it be..it's just cupcakes, right? I guess we'll see after my attempt for mother's day.

I found a really cute idea using ice cream cones. Here's the how-to video:

I'm still here...and there!

I'm sorry for my lack of posts lately; what have I been doing?

Well for one..I have been organizing!! Have you ever felt like getting rid of everything in your house? I know I have. A friend of mine is doing that now; so the first thing we've been doing is going through her 30 years worth of attic stuff. It's overwhelming for her but for me it's been fun to see all of her vintage things. It's a huge task but we've also made a huge dent so far.

You may have remembered me introducing my organizing business; Function with Flair on my blog awhile back but over the past several months I felt like God was wanting me to use my love of organizing as a ministry and not a paid biz opportunity; so that's what I'm doing. I have several people already lined up and I'm really excited about doing this to help people out!

Re; Function with Flair..I am revamping that website for something else that I love; parties! My favorite part of a party are the favors; giving and receiving. So I hope to have that biz up and running before long.

And then there is work..work and work! I'm very thankful to have work right now so I am not complaining although it is taking up alot of my time right now but again I'm not complaining.

Needless to say; I have not had time for any crafting much less showing any crafting on my blog but I hope to find some time for that in the next few weeks.
